UltraChoir — Support

UltraChoir is a multitouch vocal synthesizer for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Rest your fingers on the Choir Field and slide to play a choir of real, breathing voices.

Getting started

  • Play: Rest one or more fingers on the Choir Field. Left–right is pitch; up–down morphs the vowel (oo → ah → ee) and the dynamics. Press harder to swell, lift to let it breathe.
  • Chords: Pick a progression at the top. Tap the thumb-board pads to play chords, or switch to Auto to let the progression run. Choose any scale and key.
  • Shape the sound: Use the sliders — thickness (how many voices stack on a note, up to 10), vibrato speed and depth, reverb, and the attack / sustain / release envelope. In landscape, the sliders line up in a column down the right side.
  • Go deeper: Open Settings (the slider icon) for the full voice model (tongue, lips, nasality, tenseness, breath, glide, vocal-tract length), the instrument catalog, the modulation matrix, and saving or loading presets.
  • Controllers: Connect an MPE or MIDI controller to play UltraChoir from hardware.

Tips

  • Use headphones or a good speaker — the detail is in the breath and the vowels.
  • No sound? Tap the field once to (re)start audio, and check your device isn't muted.
  • For the widest performance surface on a phone, turn to landscape.
