Radio Forest — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026 · applies to Radio Forest (formerly Radio Lives) 3.14.0 and later
In short
Radio Forest has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Nothing about you or your listening is sent to the app's developer.
What stays on your device
Your settings, votes (thumbs up and down), listening history, the stations you have played and what the app has learned about your taste are kept on your device — and in your own iCloud or computer backup of it, so a new phone keeps them — and are removed when you delete the app. A cache of station home-page text used for search, and a copy of the last station list so it can be shown at once the next time you open the app, are kept on the device too but left out of backups, because the app can rebuild them. Settings has buttons to clear votes, history, listening time, learned taste and the home-page cache at any time.
Audio is buffered temporarily so you can switch stations instantly and rewind within a song. The buffer is discarded when a station leaves the list and never survives a restart. Nothing is saved or exported.
What other services receive
Like any internet request, each of these sees your device's IP address.
Radio stations. When you play a station — and, to make switching instant, a few stations near the top of your list while you use the app (on Wi-Fi by default; Settings › When to Buffer) — your device connects to that station's own streaming server. With "Search" caching on, the app also downloads the text of station home pages.
Radio Browser (radio-browser.info). The genres you pick and the searches the app makes for them — and, with "Discover new stations for my taste" on, also the genres you like or listen to most; the words you type into the search box, so stations beyond your genres can be found; and a play count when you start a station, which helps the directory rank popular stations.
MusicBrainz (musicbrainz.org), and AcousticBrainz if you turn it on. The artist and title of the song playing, to look up its genres, release details, moods and tempo.
ListenBrainz (listenbrainz.org), unless you turn it off. The public MusicBrainz identifier of an artist you have listened to a lot, to look up similar artists so the app can rank stations toward your taste. No listening history or anything about you is sent — only that public artist identifier.
The station's own now-playing feed, unless you turn "Show the live DJ and show" off. While the app is on screen, for the station you are playing, it reads that station's public now-playing feed (AzuraCast and similar) to show who is presenting and the name of the show. It asks only the station's own streaming server, or its website when that is on the same domain — never a social network or another site — sends no cookies and nothing about you, and stops asking a server that has no such feed.
What the app learns about your taste — which artists, genres, moods, tempos, eras and more you play through and which you skip quickly, and the preferences it shows you in "Your Taste" — is worked out and kept on your device, and is sent to none of these services. Their own privacy policies apply to what they receive. The app sends them nothing else — no identifiers, no account, no location.
Children
Radio Forest is not directed at children. Stations broadcast their own content, which the app does not filter.
