If you are writing about a particular saying, include its identifier. It is the grey code under the source in the saying's detail, for example APH-0209.
Common questions
I typed two words and got nothing. Why? Every word you type has to match. Take a word out, or type less of a word: a word you have not finished matches every word it begins, so rel finds religion, relationship and relief. A word that matches nothing gives no results, so check the spelling too.
A quotation I know is not there. InstaWise is a curated collection of 3,443 entries, not every quotation ever recorded. An entry is included only when its source can be named. If you think one belongs, send it with the place it was first printed.
I think an attribution or a source is wrong. Tell us, with the entry's identifier and what you believe the source to be. Entries carry a grade from A to E for how well the wording is attested, and an editorial note where a famous line is a paraphrase. Corrections go into the next version.
A source link does not open. Web pages move. Send us the entry's identifier and we will correct the link in the next version.
How do I stop sharing usage data, and what was shared? Tap the information button at the top of the main screen and switch Share usage data off. The line under the switch tells you whether sharing is on, and What is shared lists everything. Nothing is shared unless you agreed when the app asked. The full account is in the privacy policy.
Where are my star ratings, and can I move them to another device? They are stored on the device you rated on, and are deleted if you delete the app. They do not sync between devices.
Does it work without an internet connection? Yes. The whole collection is inside the app. Only the Open source link in a saying's detail needs a connection, because it opens the source text in your browser.
Is there a subscription or anything else to buy? No. You pay once for the app. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no ads.
