FaceLoop — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 20, 2026 · Developer: Philip Kohn · Contact: philipkohn@gmail.com

FaceLoop does not collect, store on a server, sell, or share any of your data. Everything the app does happens on your iPhone or iPad.

What the app reads, and where it stays

Your videos (Photos access). FaceLoop reads the videos in your photo library to find faces and make short loops. The analysis — finding faces, following each person, and picking the moment of greatest movement — runs entirely on your device. Your videos are never uploaded.

Speech in your clips (Speech Recognition access). If you allow it, the app transcribes the speech in each clip on your device, using Apple's on-device speech recognition, to show the first spoken line as a quote on the loop. Audio is never sent anywhere. Only that first line is kept, in the app's own storage on your device. The permission prompt iOS shows says speech data "will be sent to Apple" — that is Apple's standard wording, which apps cannot change; FaceLoop uses only on-device recognition (it refuses to run otherwise), so your audio does not leave your device.

What the app saves on your device. Its list of clips, your star ratings, hearts and edits, the quotes, small preview images, and diagnostic files, all inside the app's own storage. They are included in your normal device backup (the frame-by-frame analysis traces are not). Deleting the app deletes them.

iCloud Photos. If your videos are stored in iCloud Photos, Apple's Photos framework downloads them to your device when the app needs them, as with any photo app. FaceLoop itself does not contact any server.

What leaves your device

Nothing, unless you choose to share. When you export a loop, you pick where it goes in the system share sheet (Messages, Save Video, AirDrop, and so on). By default the app removes the location where the video was filmed from the exported file (Settings › Export).

Analytics, advertising, tracking

None. The app has no analytics, no advertising, no account, and no tracking.

Children

FaceLoop is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Your choices

You can change Photos or Speech Recognition access at any time in the iOS Settings app, and turn the speech quotes off in FaceLoop › Settings › Speech.
